Some sushi families
Sushi come in a great selection of shapes and sizes.
The different sushi (and tofu) forms we know belong to age-old clans which had dispersed all over the land. Of these clans, only two had their lineages in the tiny village of Donburi.
*
Inari Sushi are lineages of a different clan altogether.
Mysterious and frightening, they claim several districts in several cities as their own, as well as great parts of the Big Forest, where they mug unhappy victims. Woe betide those who cross these fearsome folk, especially defenseless tofu.

The Tempura Empura
This
is His Esteemed Majesty the Tempura Empura, Temperor Emperor of all the land, not just the piddly south region. Old, gold and very powerful, he is a most formidable character. Like many typical characters of great power, he has a beard. It is said his whiskers were as long as when he was young Shrimp.

Tempura Temple
This is Tempura Temple, Academy of Food Fightery and Martial Arts.
The hallowed grounds
Located in Daidokoro and overseen by officials of the Emperor, it is the most prestigious school at which one can learn food fighting skills. Entry is very restricted only to the very best and promising of young aspiring warriors.

The South, and Legend of the Sea
This is the Southern region of land reigned over by His Majesty the Tempura Empura, or the Temperor Emperor, and where they all live. The tiny tiny village of Donburi, so small that it is literally a dot on the map, was where the Sushinobi and Tofu-chan were raised.
As you can see, the seas that surround them are made of Green Tea. This is explained by an ancient legend.
Once upon a time, says the legend, the sea was not green, but colourless, and there were no tea leaves in it at all.
Then one day, Mt. Kare (which we may also call Mt. Curry) erupted, as volcanoes do.
Curry was spewed into the sky and miles and miles out everywhere. The sky turned curry-coloured for a thousand day and nights, or some substantial number.
Tea leaves in their millions fled from their branches and dived into the water for safety.
Then what happened was, the water around the land turned hot and bubbled and boiled, kind of a hot spring, and the tea leaves relaxed.
And when the tea leaves relax they release their special green dye, which is exactly what these leaves did.
They liked the sea so much that they decided to become sea creatures forever more, and to this day they still live there, even though the oceans have long cooled and become lukewarm tea.
And that's the story every little sushi and tofu has grown up with.

Soya Sauceress
The Soya Sauceress, known as Soya for short, is a lady with a beautiful complexion of a soy bean and hair the inky colour of the darkest sauce. It is rumoured that this is very essence of which they are born.
Soya is a witch; though young, she is gifted with, and notorious for her magical powers. She is both loved and feared throughout the land.
Tofu-chan
Tofu-chan is a long-time loyal companion of the Sushinobi.
Tofu-chan is of the Tofu clan, born from the humble soy bean.

Tofu-chan is a Pacifist.
This does not necessarily mean he is from the Pacific (though it's one of his all-time favourite places). It means he is a lover, not a fighter. This may or may not be because he is soft and probably useless in a fight anyway; even if he wore a helmet, which he can't, because his head is square.
Tofu-chan is also Vegan.
